The National Coffee Fund arises within the framework of the constitutional obligation of the State of Honduras to promote the development and social welfare of the Honduran people, especially to encourage the Honduran coffee growing regime.
The National Coffee Fund provides financing and executes programs for “Construction, Improvement and Maintenance of Roads in the Coffee Growing Zones”, it promotes special investment and social development programs and projects for the coffee growing zones of Honduras. It also provides support to coffee producer organizations represented in the National Coffee Fund.
Promote the integral development of the national coffee industry through the construction and maintenance of the road infrastructure of the coffee-growing areas and support social investment programs and projects that benefit the coffee-producing sector.
The first Decree by which the Coffee Emergency Fund is created dates from September 7, 1993 through Legislative Decree 143-93 that contains the Law for the Management of Withholdings for Export Coffee, Coffee for Internal Consumption and Creation of Coffee Emergency Fund.
